Is there a way to add the addresses from your old e-mail account to a new web-based Gmail account?The answer is yes.One can indeed pull the address book from the old program into the gmail contacts list.This can be fairly simple process if you use outlook.outlook express,Yahoo or any mail program that can export your address book as a comma-separated values (CSV) file which is what Gmail likes to import.Start by looking for an export command in the old mail program.In outlook,for example,go to the file menu and choose "Import and export" Select "export to a file",click on the next button and select "comma separated values(windows).Click on the next button again,select the contacts folder and click on next.Pick a place to save the exported file like the desktop or a folder,nae it contacts.csv or soemthing else recognizable,click on the next button and then click on finish to save a copy of your address book.Log into the Gmail account and click on contacts link.At the top of the contacts page,click on the import link.click on the browse button and select the recently imported comma separated values for file.Click on the import button to pull the addresses into Gmail.start by looking for an export command in the old mail program.
